The course follows a course book, lasts for 11 or 12 weeks (depending on the session) and is suitable for students at lower intermediate level of English. It will help students to cope with everyday situations while traveling and working about 50% of candidates worldwide follow the course for reasons of employment.
Of course, it also prepares students for the PET exam. In 2000, about 70,000 candidates sat the exam around the world, with most candidates coming from Europe and South America. Around 90% of candidates were aged from late teens to late twenties.
The PET exam tests the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in three papers, equal importance being given to each skill.
